Help me grow!
- I grow easily indoors in containers filled with soil-based potting mix and when positioned in bright indirect light or in sunny areas that get some afternoon shade.
- I should be regularly watered during the growing season but allowed to become drier from fall to late winter.
- I am a heavy feeder and would need plenty of fertilizer throughout the growing season.
- Feed me with a slow-release pellet at the beginning and then consequently slow down during the off-season.
- Propagate me easily through stem cuttings.
- If I am dropping the leaves despite having ideal lighting, temperature, humidity, and fertilizer levels, try supplement feeding with a little magnesium and manganese.
- Using a sterilized, sharp pair of pruners, prune away dead branches and pick dead leaves to prevent the spread of diseases or fungal infections that can severely affect me; this can be done any time during the year
FAQs
- How long do I live?
With the right care, I can live for about 20 years. - How should you stop the leaves from dropping?
Keep me away from drafty windows and doors, air conditioners, and heaters. Use a humidifier in the winter, when the air gets dry. Also, underwatering or overwatering both can cause my leaves to drop. - How much sunlight is ideal for me?
I would need at least six hours of filtered sunlight per day and can in some cases handle more. If I do not get the light needed, you will see certain issues growing or leaves dropping. If I am exposed to too much direct light, you would risk my leaves to burning. - Am I safe for pets?
No, I am toxic to animals.
